The Association of Justice Counsel (AJC), as the exclusive bargaining agent for approximately 2,600 lawyers employed by the government of Canada with a primary function to uphold and respect the rule of law, is very concerned with the ongoing protests in the National Capital Region and other cities across the country.

The Government of Canada’s mandatory vaccination policy came into effect on October 6th 2021, mandating Covid-19 vaccinations for all employees in federally regulated workplaces, including AJC members, regardless of whether they work onsite, remotely, or telework.

Yesterday, the Government of Canada unveiled the mandatory vaccination policy that had been promised during the election campaign last month.

In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) Call to Action number 80, the federal government has established September 30th as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

On September 28th 2021, the Prime Minister confirmed that a mandatory vaccination policy for federal public servants will be forthcoming.

On August 13, 2021, the Federal Government announced a policy of mandatory vaccination for public servants.

The 2019 Memorandum of Agreement on Phoenix Damages, to which the AJC is a party, includes a catch-up clause which provides that the parties to the agreement will receive any additional benefits that may be negotiated by other federal unions.
