Ottawa, June 14, 2026 – The Association of Justice Counsel (AJC) is proud to join Canadians in marking National Public Service Week and recognizing the people behind the work that keeps the country running. It is an opportunity to highlight the contribution that federal legal professionals make every day.
Across the country, AJC members provide the legal services and advice that help government deliver for Canadians. Their work supports public institutions and helps uphold the rule of law. Much of that work happens behind the scenes, yet its impact is felt across the federal public service.
Supporting legal professionals extends beyond a single week of recognition. It means salary and performance pay that reflect the important role federal legal professionals play. It means career development opportunities. It means workplace conditions that encourage talented people to build long-term careers in the public service.
For the AJC, it is our responsibility to bring member priorities to the bargaining table and negotiate a strong collective agreement that reflects the value of federal legal professionals.
This week is also an opportunity to reflect on the realities facing today's public service. Celebrating the people behind the work means acknowledging the challenges they face every day and the importance of ensuring they have the support they need to continue serving Canadians.
Throughout National Public Service Week, we will be drawing attention to some of the issues that matter most not only to our members, but to public servants across the country.
As we advocate for the conditions public servants deserve, we remain committed to working alongside our sibling unions on the issues that matter to workers across the public service.
Happy National Public Service Week!
