Following extensive advocacy and litigation by the AJC, the LP-01 Development Program was reinstated after being paused by the employer. The AJC is being consulted by the employer regarding the program’s relaunch. 

When the employer sought to require LPs to pay their law society fees upfront, the AJC successfully advocated for a reversal of that position. For now, the existing payment approach remains in place. 

Following the employer’s decisions to increase mandatory in-office presence, the AJC filed a grievances challenging the change and continues to advocate for members on workplace flexibility and telework. 

As hundreds of AJC members were identified as “affected” under the Work Force Adjustment policy, the AJC has been actively advocating for solutions that protect members’ continued employment with the federal public service. 

The AJC has brought members’ concerns about federal budget cuts directly to Parliament. The AJC President testified before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates, highlighting the impact of cuts to LP positions and the consequences for the delivery of legal services to Canadians.
