Suspension of the Mandatory Vaccination Policy

Thursday, June 23, 2022

Last week the Employer announced the suspension of the Mandatory Vaccination Policy. As of June 20th, 2022, AJC members who were placed on LWOP because of their vaccination status, will be reintegrated back into the workplace.

As has been the case since the beginning of this global pandemic, the AJC’s priority continues to be the health and safety of its members. We continue to encourage all our members to wear medical masks or respirators (i.e., N-95 masks or equivalents) in all indoor spaces, at all times, and to continue to work remotely where possible.

The AJC was not consulted before the making of the decision to suspend the vaccination policy. Bargaining agents should always be consulted on policies that have a major impact on the terms and conditions of employment of our members, as well as their health and safety and rights in the workplace.

We recognize that this decision by the Employer will cause concern for many of our members who may be at high risk from Covid-19, or who have care-giving responsibilities to vulnerable populations. We hope that we can all demonstrate compassion, for our all our colleagues.

Please consider raising your concerns first with your supervisor to find accommodations. If this is unsuccessful, please reach out for support by contacting your regional GC representatives or by completing an intake form.
